Hangover skincare

So  if you went for it hard last night with the booze or tried to have a quiet one last night but ended up having a few too many drinks grab yourself a full fat coke and a bacon sarnie and I'll give you my tips for hungover skin. Even if my getting-really-rather-sloshed days are pretty much over ( or possibility on hiatus) while I tend to my crazy baby lady, in the past I have done my fair share of partying and then having to get up and look human the next day (anyone who worked in retail has been there; am i right ladies?) so here are my skincare tips for the day after the night before.

Sidenote! Even if you don't drink these skin care products are great if you're feeling over worked, bit run down and in need of a skin boost to put a bit of glow back.

The next morning......

So if you didn't take your make up off last night a big huge slap on the wrist but we make mistakes so let's move past that.

Cleanse. Ok I know you don't want to emerge from your duvet but if you want to perk your skin up the best thing to do is get in the shower and properly cleanse your face, it will instantly make your skin feel smoother and you will feel like you're getting back on track. On hungover/run down/tired days I find the Balance me cleanse & smooth face balm really great if my skin is feeling dull and in need of a treat as it has very fine grains which will give your face a decent but gentle polish without drying the skin. So once you've smothered your skin in cleanser get a flannel or muslin cloth, run it under a hot tap and wipe it all away.

Masks. If you have time pop a mask on now .  My three current favourites are the Skyn Iceland Fresh Start masks ( these are perfect for hungover skin but they're a bit pricey so I save them for desperate occasions)  Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial  and the good old Lush Mask of Magnaminty (great as a deep cleansing mask for oily skin), I change these up depending on skin complaint/time

Exfoliating toner/Acid toners, These will give you a bit of glow back to dull, dehydrated skin. I really like the Pixi Glow Tonic or if you're feeling super lazy the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads are great.

Serum. My favourite serum for skin in need of perking up is the Superfacialist vitamin c serum, It's not too pricey and it's like a Berocca for your face. Lovely.

Moisturiser/Facial Oil . If i have to leave the house I'll use a really hydrating moisturiser like the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream or the Clinque Moisture Surge but if i'm just having a chilling out day at home I slap a load of Kiehl's Midnight Recovery on and get back under the duvet.

Eye cream. I sometimes feel like unless you want something super rich with anti-ageing properties an eye cream is a nice little extra but on a hangover an eye cream that's been stored in the fridge is heavenly. I like the Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream. The Liz Earle Eyebright soothing eye lotion is also great if like me you get that grubby dry eye feeling the morning after.

And now just make sure you get lots of sleep, water and pizza.

Happy New Year!
