Eyeko Rock Out and Lash Out

Mascara always leaves me disappointed, it seems to promise so much and deliver so little, I wouldn't be without it but I've never truly given my heart to one ;  it's always been a case of ''Come on then you'll do'' . Even though I was raised by a mascara addict (my mum often has 5 different ones on the go and will try every new one she can get her hands on, she has absolutely no mascara loyalty. She will always ask what I've got on followed by ''will you get me one if I give the money?'') its never stirred the same excitement as a bright lipstick or my beloved Rimmel liquid eyeliner. BUT Willing to have my mind changed I gave Eyeko Rock Out and Lash Out a go and reader.... I'M IN LOVE.

Eyeko's old packaging ; silly but pleasing

Before I talk about how much just how much I love this mascara, a little Eyeko history for you.  I really recognised the name ''Eyeko'' and it was really bothering me how I knew it until I remembered! It used to be a very cutesy make up brand with kawaii, manga influenced pink packaging sold in House of Fraser I think. I had one of their  minty fat balms (which was actually pretty good) when I was 14 and drawn to silly girly packaging in a goth ''ironic'' way (*shudders*).  It seems they re branded Eyeko a few years ago brought in Alexa Chung as brand ambassador, pushed the prices up and started focussing solely on eye make up and while I do have a soft spot for their silly balms and fruity felt tip lip straubs it's a good idea to concentrate on one thing and do a jolly good job.

First up the packaging; its oddly pleasing when mascaras come packaged like this, it might just be the novelty aspect (nothing wrong with novelty in my book) but I approve. Initially the brush intimidated me, it looked like it was going to do damage to my eyeball but there is method in its madness as the wibbly wobbly shape means you can wiggle it enough to get properly stuck in to the roots ( a big bonus if you have really fair eyelashes like I do. The goop is very black (another good thing) and it does not shift. It's a ''tubing mascara'' which means it uses a flexible  polymer instead of the traditonal wax or oils you get in mascaras and the polymers build up on your lashes making them look longer and once it's on it stays put which is good if you (like me) cry with laughter and get watery eyes in the wind.

the mascara adorning a real life eyeball

My only issue would be the price at £20 its pretty pricey and if you get rid of your mascara every 3 months like you're meant to (does ) BUT since its become my everyday mascara its seems a bit more justifiable . Plus when I was putting the cardboard box it arrived in in the recycling I noticed that in the bottom of box was a FREEBIE! I love me a freebie, it was an black magic eye pencil which I haven't properly tried yet but I will report back

The free eyeliner!
